This is the fourth class in a comprehensive four-level electrical curriculum that complies with DOLI standards for apprenticeship. This capstone course explores load calculations (feeders and services), and introduces modules covering electricity in health care facilities, standby and emergency systems, basic electronic theory, fire alarm systems, specialty transformers, advanced controls, HVAC controls, heat tracing and freeze protection, motor operation and maintenance, medium-voltage terminations/splices, special locations, and fundamentals of crew leadership.
Classes meet twice a week, once in person and once virtually, for the stated hours. Students can access their grades after the grades have been posted to the website, generally 2 weeks after class completion. Sponsor employers with a FERPA form on file with ACE can request student grades. Payment plan applications must be received two weeks before the class start date. Registration closes at 5:00 PM on the Thursday before class begins. A laptop or tablet is highly recommended.
Required textbook: Students must purchase digital or print textbook with NCCERConnect code from the NCCER bookstore and have a copy of the NEC 2020. Book Edition will be sent prior to class.
