This Veterinary Assistant program is designed to provide a structured, scaffolded pathway from foundational knowledge to entry-level clinical competence in alignment with NAVTA CVA standards. Students begin by building essential skills in safety, infection control, medical terminology, anatomy, and professional communication. Emphasis is placed on developing a strong understanding of veterinary team roles, ethical responsibilities, and workplace expectations. Learners gain confidence in interpreting medical records, applying proper sanitation protocols, and demonstrating professionalism in both clinical and client-service settings. Foundational science concepts and terminology are integrated throughout the course to support accurate documentation, clear communication, and safe patient care.

As the program progresses, students apply their knowledge through hands-on skill development in animal behavior, restraint, husbandry, clinical assisting, laboratory procedures, and front desk operations. Through structured labs, simulations, and supervised practice, learners develop competency in obtaining vital signs, assisting with examinations, preparing treatment and surgical areas, maintaining medical records, and supporting daily hospital workflow. The course culminates in clinical integration and career readiness preparation, equipping students with the technical skills, critical thinking ability, and professional confidence required for success as an entry-level veterinary assistant.
