Warm up your winter with a hands-on cooking class featuring Korean braised beef short ribs, or galbijjim. In this class, you’ll learn how to prepare tender, flavorful short ribs simmered in a savory-sweet sauce with soy, garlic, ginger, and Korean spices.

Students will practice marinating techniques, braising to perfection, and preparing simple vegetable accompaniments to complement the rich flavors of the dish. We’ll also cover tips for presentation and how to recreate this comforting, restaurant-quality dish at home for holiday dinners or cozy winter meals. By the end of class, you’ll enjoy tasting your own perfectly braised short ribs and gain the skills to make them again with confidence.


  • This one-time, 3-hour class will be held at the Plum Center,
  • Students will work with others in small groups.
  • The class has space for up to 12 people, so everyone gets a chance to learn and practice.
  • Be ready to stand, cook, and work during the class.
  • For your safety and comfort, please bring apron, wear closed-toe shoes and tie back long hair.
