Instructions for Applying for an FCPS ACE Scholarship



Below is important information to compile before applying for a scholarship through Fairfax County Public Schools Adult and Community Education (FCPS ACE) program.  

All questions are required to be answered, and knowing how you will answer these questions before you start completing the application will make it easier for you to complete. Your application will not be submitted if you do not fill in all information.
 
Please note that some scholarships ask for more detailed information than others.

All scholarship applications will request that you tell us about yourself and your educational goals, so we recommend deciding what you want to say for these questions:
 
  • In 250-500 words, please describe why you are requesting an FCPS ACE Scholarship. Please provide details on why you are pursuing a specific class, what you hope to attain by enrolling, and why you feel you should be awarded a scholarship.
     
  • In no more than 500 words, what do you think you need to do or accomplish to consider yourself successful, and how might this scholarship help you to take a step toward that success?
     
  • What would you like to share with the scholarship donors regarding your circumstances and why you would benefit from this scholarship?
     
  • General information about yourself including how to contact you.
     
  • For which specific class, including location and dates (if currently available), are you seeking a scholarship?

All applications require that you have a Learner Profile created in our online registration system (www.fcpsace.org). From the home page, select “Create Account” and follow the prompts.  If you have difficulty creating a Learner Profile or are not sure if you already have one, please contact our Registration office at 703-658-1201 (Option 1) for assistance.

Some scholarships, like the Apprenticeship/Trades (Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC or HVAC R) and Health and Medical have more detailed financial information that is requested.  These include questions such as:
 
  • What is your educational and employment history and your monthly income (including both wages and other sources of monthly income).  
     
  • Who are the other members of your household?
     
  • Are you currently enrolled in any Fairfax County or Workforce Investment Act (WIA) training/education program (including SkillSource)? 
     
  • Citizenship Information
     
  • Veteran status
     
  • Prior Scholarships from the FCPS ACE
     
  • Prior classes taken from FCPS ACE 

Once you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email with more specific information about what to expect during the review, including timeline and next steps.
