HVAC 3 continues the progression of technical training by expanding on prior coursework with a focus on system diagnostics and advanced applications. Modules include fasteners, hardware, and wiring terminations; troubleshooting of control circuits, motors, cooling systems, heat pumps, gas and oil heating systems, and accessories; as well as zoning, ductless and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, commercial hydronic and steam systems, retail refrigeration systems, and customer service practices. This course is part of a comprehensive four-level HVAC apprenticeship program that meets DOLI standards and is recognized by North American Technician Excellence (NATE).
Classes meet twice a week, once in person and once virtually, for the stated hours. Final grades are reported electronically to sponsor employers with a FERPA form on file with ACE. Registration closes at 12:00 PM on the Friday before class begins. A laptop or tablet is required to access digital class materials.
Required textbook: Students must purchase digital or print textbook with NCCERConnect code from the NCCER bookstore and the book Edition will be sent prior to class.
